(Tbilisi, August 26 2002, Civil Georgia) On 24 of August Russian MFA issued a statement according to which Russian government welcomes the intention of Tbilisi to make an order in troubled Pankisi Gorge. Though, Russian side expressed its dissatisfaction about Georgia's "anti-terrorist tactic, which implies peaceful push-out of terrorists from Georgia".

"Terrorists should be blockaded, disarmed and extradited to Russia. Russian side is ready to provide necessary assistance to Georgia".

Besides, it is emphasized that "as soon as Tbilisi actually resists to terrorism, unconditionally implements UN Anti-Terrorist Resolutions, reasons that cause tensions on borders would disappear".
