Georgian police arrested a 45-year-old woman accused of involving her 11-year-old child in creating pornography videos and images.
The Georgian Interior Ministry said on Thursday that the child exploitation pornography case was under investigation since February in close cooperation with the law enforcement agencies from the United States, Israel and Australia.
In what was a coordinated arrest into the same case, a 42-year-old man, who is Israeli citizen, was detained in Israel, according to the Georgian interior Ministry.
It said that the woman was accused of exploiting her 11-year-old daughter for last two years and selling videos and images to the Israeli citizen; the latter was then selling child pornography videos and images via internet, according to the Georgian Interior Ministry.
The woman, who is a Georgian citizen, has been charged with underage trafficking and exploitation, carrying prison term from eight to twelve years.
The U.S. embassy in Tbilisi said on Thursday that the Georgian police in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Israeli, Australian and Swiss law enforcement agencies conducted coordinated arrests in Georgia and Israel of individuals involved in a child exploitation and pornography case.
“This is another example of the strong partnership and cooperation between the United States and Georgia. Law enforcement officials from the United States and Georgia enjoy a mutually beneficial working relationship combating transnational crime,” the U.S. embassy said.
