EU to Allocate EUR 16 mln to Georgia
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 11 Jul.'13 / 17:17

The European Union will allocate EUR 16 million to Georgia to support enhancing Georgia's capacity for border managements and migration.

The EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, Štefan Füle, and the State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Alexi Petriashvili, signed the relevant financing agreement in Batumi on July 11.

The European Union allocates financial aid to Georgia under the “more-for-more” principle launched in the frame of the Eastern Partnership Integration and Cooperation programme (EaPIC): the more and the faster a country progresses in its reforms on democracy and human rights, the more support it will get from the EU. In this context, Georgia benefited from additional EU support of EUR 22 million in 2012.
