Former PM Bidzina Ivanishvili participated on Friday in a meeting of PM Irakli Garibashvili with lawmakers from the Georgian Dream ruling coalition.
This is the first time when Ivanishvili publicly meets ruling majority representatives in GD headquarters since quitting office in November, 2013.
The meeting came a day before GD formally kicks off its campaign for the June 15 municipal elections with a gathering in the Sports Palace in Tbilisi on April 26, where GD is expected to name its mayoral candidates.
GD has so far named its Tbilisi mayoral candidate, Davit Narmania, but has to name candidates for other eleven cities where mayors will be directly elected for the first time in upcoming elections.
In a brief statement after the meeting, PM’s office said that ahead of the launch of election campaign, ex-PM Ivanishvili “wished success to coalition candidates and reminded the entire team once again about the responsibility before the country and the people.”
