Early Results Give GD's Narmania Big Lead in Tbilisi Mayor Runoff
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 12 Jul.'14 / 23:09

In the first official report of preliminary results from second round of Tbilisi mayoral race, GD candidate Davit Narmania is leading with 47 percentage points over UNM’s Nika Melia.

These partial results, released by the Central Election Commission three hours after the polls closed, give Narmania 73.51% of votes and Melia – 26.49%.

These early results, announced by CEC chairperson Tamar Zhvania at 11pm local time on Saturday, are based on returns from 140 out of capital city’s total of 727 polling stations.

In comments just after the first partial results were announced, Davit Narmania thanked voters and said that he’s starting “to work actively starting from Monday” to deliver with his pre-election promises.

“I am sure Tbilisi will see results very soon,” Narmania said.
