Georgian, Turkish Presidents Meet in Istanbul

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul on September 28 on the sideline of the World Economic Forum.

“We spoke about regional security issues, deepening of Georgian-Turkish relations, as well as about importance of implementation of Georgian-Turkish-Azerbaijani joint projects,” the Georgian President said after the meeting. “We have also discussed security issues related to developments in Ukraine and ISIS.”

The Turkish President met Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili last week in New York on the sideline of the UN General Assembly.

President Margvelashvili, who is participating in the two-day meeting of the World Economic Forum on “Unlocking Resources for Regional Development”, also met on Sunday with secretary general of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Victor Tvircun, and will also meet President of President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.
