Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 30 Dec.'14 / 14:31

One Georgian citizen remains unaccounted for from Norman Atlantic ferry, which caught fire in the Adriatic Sea early on December 28, according to the Georgian diplomat in Italy.

There were eight Georgian nationals among the passengers on board of the ferry.

Seven of them, including a nine-year old boy, were among those more than 400 people, who have been evacuated from the ferry as a result of 36-hour rescue operation.

Whereabouts of one Georgian remain unknown, Georgian consul in Italy, Vakhtang Andguladze, told Civil.ge via phone on Tuesday afternoon.

Ten people have been confirmed dead, according to the Italian coastguard. It is unclear how many passengers are still missing.

The cause of the fire on the car ferry, which was en route from Patras in western Greece to Italian port of Ancona, is unknown.
