PM Irakli Garibashvili said on January 14 he does not deem it necessary for the government to be present at President’s annual state of the nation address in the Parliament.

President Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed hope that the government members will not snub again his annual address in the Parliament, scheduled for February.
 
“Under the new constitution the government is not really obliged to be present. This is a symbolic address by the President in the Parliament. I do not deem it necessary for the government, cabinet members and the Prime Minister to be present at such addresses. I would like to ask you not to attach great importance to it. This is purely of symbolic nature,” Garibashvili said.

He made the remarks while speaking with journalists after attending an opening ceremony of Rixos hotel in Borjomi on January 14.
