President Says He Voted for Multi-Party Parliament
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 8 Oct.'16 / 09:57

After casting ballot at one of Tbilisi’s polling station on Saturday morning, President Giorgi Margvelashvili said he has voted for a multi-party parliament.

“I want to call on voters to be active,” he told journalists outside the polling station.

“We are making a step towards strengthening of our country and democracy. I am glad there are many people at this precinct and there is calm at the polling stations.”

“I voted for the Georgian parliament where many political parties will be represented,” he added.

President Margvelashvili has not campaigned for any of the political party, instead he was involved in get out the vote campaign.

PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who chairs ruling GDDG party, also cast ballot on Saturday morning in Tbilisi.

He told journalists at the polling station that he voted for “even better future, stable democratic development, welfare for each of our citizens, European future for our country and faster economic growth.”

“I am confident that it will be a step towards Georgia’s better future. I am sure that our citizens will make choice for Georgia’s future,” the PM said.

MP Davit Bakradze, who leads opposition UNM’s party list of MP candidates, said after casting ballot in one of Tbilisi’s polling stations, that he’s confident that in the elections voters will say no to “lies and confrontation and will make choice in favor of progress-oriented Georgia.”
