PM Kvirikashvili Concludes United States Visit

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held last official meetings during his visit to the United States on May 10. The meetings included those with the Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

According to the Treasury press center, Kvirikashvili and Mnuchin discussed Georgia’s economic priorities. The Secretary congratulated the Georgian Prime Minister on reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a program supporting Georgia’s economic reforms, and underscored the importance of working together on mutual national security issues.

According to the Prime Minister’s press service, during the meeting Kvirikashvili stressed the importance of using the potential of economic cooperation between Georgia and the United States. He also expressed hope that the United States would continue its aid projects in Georgia.

At Prime Minister’s meeting with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, the sides spoke about the business environment in Georgia, including the country’s “positive positions in the international ratings.”

Kvirikashvili said that participation of the American businessmen in the infrastructure projects in Georgia was important for the country, with the sides discussing participation of American companies in the Anaklia port project, and hotel businesses in Georgia.

Both meetings were attended by high-ranking Georgian diplomats, including the Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and Georgia’s Ambassador to the U.S. David Bakradze.

During the previous days of the visit, Kvirikashvili met with President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, as well as a number of Senators, including the Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain.
