Shevardnadze Against Patarkatsishvili's Political Activity
/ 29 Dec.'01 / 17:26

(Tbilisi. December 29. Civil Georgia) - "It would be better if Badri Patarkatsishvili will not cooperate with the political parties and factions," President Shevardnadze told journalists on December 29.

Badri Patarkatsishvili, former financial director of the Russian national ORT TV channel and then the chairman of board of the independent TV6 channel was an aide to Russia's financial tycoon Boris Berezovsky.

Patarkatsishvili is wanted in Russia for organizing an attempt at jailbreak by former first vice-president of "Aeroflot" national airlines. Russia's Prosecutor General's office officially addressed Georgia for extradition of Patarkatsishvili in November.

Patarkatsishvili arrived to Tbilisi in October and was allegedly buying shares of the independent media sources and other commercial companies. President Shevardnadze stated on December 29 that he welcomes Patarkatsishvili's commercial activity in Georgia.
