Activists and leaders from the opposition Georgian Party held a protest rally outside the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi on May 16 calling on Washington “to stop supporting Saakashvili’s regime.” The Georgian Party announced earlier in May that it aims at forcing President Saakashvili to resign this year through peaceful revolution. The party launched series of rallies in the regions, which it says, will continue and culminate with anti-government demonstrations in Tbilisi on an unspecified date.
