The Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed protest regarding the detention of a correspondent of the Georgian Public Broadcaster Nino Giorgobiani and cameraman Giorgi Lagidze by Belarus police in Minsk on March 24 and demanded their immediate release.

“The fact of detention of the Georgian journalists without bringing any charges or citing any legal reasons provides yet another proof that the Belarus authorities have eventually renounced any claim to democratic development and protection of the universally recognized principles of human rights,” the statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry on March 24 reads.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry demanded categorically the immediate elimination of the incident and unconditional release of the Georgian journalists.
