MP Zviad Dzidziguri, leader of the opposition Conservative Party, was hospitalized on March 25 on medical advice, after his health worsened significantly.
March 25 marked the seventeenth day in a hunger strike for Dzidziguri and four other politicians from the eight-party opposition coalition.
Giorgi Khaindrava, an individual member of the eight-party opposition coalition, said he would go on hunger strike to replace Dzidziguri.
Up to 36 opposition activists are continuing a hunger strike outside Parliament.
