Medvedev: Russia Ready for International Probe into War
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 16 Nov.'08 / 20:00

Dmitry Medvedev the Russian President, said on November 15 Moscow would support “conducting international investigation” into the August war.

When asked whether Moscow would support the international probe, Medvedev told the audience at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington: “We have been speaking about that from the very beginning.”

“There has been distorted coverage of events in the Caucasus in the western states, first and foremost in the United States,” Medvedev said. “The understanding of the fact that the war has been waged by Saakashvili is emerging in the United States only now.”

He also said that Russia was “ready to build relations with Georgia.”

“But not with the current regime [in Georgia],” Medvedev said. “That is a red line, which we can not cross.”
