Heidi Tagliavini, a Swiss diplomat, who chairs the EU-sponsored inquiry into the August war, told the Brussels-based EUobserver.com that she would present detailed plan for her investigation to the EU on December 19.
EU formally endorsed on December 2 to create a “fact-finding mission” to probe into “the origins and the course of the conflict... with regard to international law, humanitarian law and human rights, and the accusations made in that context.” EU will provide EUR 1.6 million to fund the mission.
“I should have some clear ideas about the whole mission by then [19 December],” she told EUobserver.com. “An investigation is a process. I might have a team by the end of this year and then hire extra people if the need arises.”
