EUMM Reinforces Monitoring Ahead of War Report
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 22 Sep.'09 / 00:30

EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) will reinforce patrols along the Abkhaz and South Ossetian administrative boundary lines ahead of the publication of a report by EU-funded inquiry mission into the origins of the August war, Hansjorg Haber, head of EUMM said, the Brussels-based EUobserver.com reported.

According to EUobserver.com Haber told journalists in Brussels on September 21 that the move was “purely prophylactic” measure. “Now it's just a remote residual possibility of conflict, against which Georgia of course wants to be insured, and Russia to some extent too,” Haber was quoted.

Spiegel Online reported on September 21 quoting EU diplomats in Brussels that the final report by the war inquiry mission, led by Heidi Tagliavini, would put a blame for the August war on Georgia and also would hold Russia responsible for escalating the conflict by its massive deployment of troops in the region.
