Billionaire opposition politician Bidzina Ivanishvili has completed process of revoking his Russian citizenship, according to a December 26 notification from the Russian Interests Section at the Swiss Embassy, which he posted on his official Facebook page.

Ivanishvili, who before going into politics had multiple citizenship – Russian, Georgian, French – now hold only French passport and is disputing the Georgian authorities’ decision to strip him and his wife of their Georgian citizenship in the court.

The Tbilisi City Court will announce its ruling on December 27.
