Parliament to Speed Up Passing of 'Must-Carry' Rules
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 25 Jun.'12 / 18:15

The Parliament is expected to table and initiate legislative amendments to introduce ‘must-carry/must-offer’ rules on June 26 and passed by the Parliament before the end of this week, Davit Bakradze, the parliamentary chairman, said on Monday.

“It is in everybody’s interests to speed up approval of these amendments and not to drag out the process,” Bakradze said and added that the amendments to the law would be made at special sessions of the Parliament on June 28-29.

On June 22, when Bakradze first unveiled the government’s decision to introduce ‘must-carry/must-offer’ rules, he said that the initiative would envisage “carrying of all television channels by all the cable operators during the electoral period.”
