Saakashvili to Deliver Annual Address from National Library
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 7 Feb.'13 / 20:53

President Saakashvili will address the nation on Friday evening from the National Library with a speech he was intending to deliver in his annual state of the nation address in the Parliament, president’s spokesperson said.

Saakashvili’s annual address in the Parliament was originally scheduled for February 8, but the Georgian Dream parliamentary majority said on Thursday that the President’s address could only be held after resolving row over proposed constitutional changes on presidential powers.

“Since at the demand of the Prime Minister [Bidzina Ivanishvili], the [Georgian Dream] parliamentary majority refused to hear the President’s annual report, that is envisaged by the constitution, Mikheil Saakashvili decided to address the nation from the National Library,” Manana Manjgaladze, president’s spokesperson, said.

National Library, where the President will deliver his speech, is one of those institutions under the subordination of the Parliament.
