Azerbaijani, Georgian, Turkish FMs to Meet in Batumi
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 19 Mar.'13 / 20:27

Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will hold second trilateral meeting in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town of Batumi on March 28, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

It said that Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze discussed details of the upcoming meeting during talks with her Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku on March 19.

The first such trilateral meeting between foreign ministers of the three countries was held in Trabzon on Turkey's Black Sea coast in June, 2012. The meeting resulted into a Trabzon Declaration, which outlined priority areas of cooperation between the three countries ranging from mutual support in international organizations to joint energy and transportation projects.

During her two-day visit to Baku, Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, also met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on March 18.

Also on March 18 President Aliyev met separately with Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania, who was also visiting Baku.

“The head of state stressed that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia were at a good level in all areas, including the area of defense,” the Azerbaijani President’s press office said on March 18. “Noting that the cooperation between the two countries both bilaterally and in international organizations had good traditions, President Ilham Aliyev said there were good opportunities to a further strengthening of cooperation in the field of defense.”
