Saakashvili Suffers 'Triple Shoulder Fracture' After Bicycle Accident
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 8 Apr.'13 / 16:08

Georgian President’s administration said that Mikheil Saakashvili suffered “triple shoulder fracture” in an accident while riding a bicycle during a routine workout on April 7 in Turkey.

President’s administration said in a brief statement on Monday that he was taken to a hospital in Istanbul where he “underwent surgery.”

It also said that Saakashvili’s meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gül, originally planned for Monday, was rescheduled for Tuesday.

“The President will leave Turkey after that meeting,” the Georgian President’s administration said without providing further details of the accident.

The statement came after the Turkish press reported earlier on Monday that the Georgian President broke his arm after falling off the bicycle in Istanbul.

Saakashvili met Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on April 6.
