Senior MP: Garibashvili Among Possible Prime Ministerial Candidates
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 2 Nov.'13 / 11:16

A senior GD lawmaker said Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili is one of the possible candidates for prime ministerial post to replace PM Ivanishvili when the latter steps down this month.

“I am sure one of the candidacies will be the one of Mr. Garibashvili; yes I confirm it,” GD parliamentary majority leader, Davit Saganelidze, told journalists on November 2.

He made the remarks before a meeting of GD coalition leaders, which will then be followed by a meeting of PM Ivanishvili and GD parliamentary majority lawmakers after which announcement of new prime ministerial candidate is expected later on Saturday afternoon.

31-year-old Interior Minister Garibashvili, who is Ivanishvili’s long-time close associate, has long been rumored among possible prime ministerial candidates.
