Georgian President Meets Ukrainian FM in Prague
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 25 Apr.'14 / 16:08

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met on April 25 Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia in Prague on the sideline of a high-level meeting marking the fifth anniversary of inaugural summit of EU’s Eastern Partnership initiative.

“[Presidential] elections will be held in a month in Ukraine. I want to stress that it is very important to hold these elections effectively and democratically on the entire territory of the country with the participation of the entire population,” President Margvelashvili told journalists after the meeting.

“Today we were talking with our Ukrainian friends about what steps Georgia can take in this direction. This is very important because stability and peace in the country depends on these elections. During the meeting we agreed that we will continue working with our Ukrainian colleagues – on the parliamentary level, as well as in frames of other formats – in order to have the May 25 presidential elections recognized by the entire world,” he said.

In other bilateral meeting in Prague, the Georgian President also held talks with his counterparts from the Czech Republic, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Austria, Lithuania, Slovakia as well as with Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Jan Björklund.
