President, PM in Marneuli for Nowruz Festivities
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 21 Mar.'15 / 15:26

President Giorgi Margvelashvili and PM Irakli Garibashvili made a rare joint appearance on March 21 when they arrived in Marneuli on the occasion of the Nowruz festivities.

“We all are with you in your service to build stronger, happier Georgia. I fight together with you for happy Georgia,” President Margvelashvili said in his address in Marneuli, Kvemo Kartli region, predominantly populated by ethnic Azerbaijanis.

PM Garibashvili said in his speech that the fact he and President Margvelashvili “are here together on this day is a demonstration of our unity; this is a demonstration of our love to you.”

“This is a very rich region, you are hardworking and distinguished citizens of our country and we, as the President has noted, will always stand by you. Our ancestors were together building better future… We arrived here to tell you that we will do our best to make tomorrow better for Georgia,” Garibashvili said.

In his speech the PM also mentioned opposition UNM’s planned protest rally in Tbilisi center on Saturday and condemned it as an attempt by “destructive forces” to “hamper” Georgia’s development.

“Today several thousand people are gathering in Tbilisi by force and money; they cry for past; they cry for evil; cry for non-development. We have gathered today to celebrate love, to prove respect and love to each other, to think about tomorrow, about future. This is Georgia of future rather than the one when some destructive forces try to artificially hamper the development of our country,” Garibashvili said.

“But we will not allow any force to hamper the development of country in any form. We believe in better future, we believe in strong Georgia and strong region,” the PM added.
