Finance Minister Says GEL 140m Cut in Current Spending Planned
Civil Georgia, Tbilisi / 23 Jun.'15 / 10:45

Current spending in the state budget will be cut by GEL 140 million, Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri said at a government session on Tuesday morning.

“But large part of this amount will be redirected towards capital expenditures,” Khaduri said, adding that social expenditures would not be reduced.

He also said the cuts were made possible largely at the expense of reducing current expenditures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.

No detailed breakdown was immediately available.

“We should have done it earlier, but better late than never,” PM Irakli Garibashvili said at the government session, referring to planned budget revision.

The PM also said “almost all the countries in the region” had to revise their budgets because of the “crisis in the region.”
