30 Dec. '07 |   Financial Monitoring Group Created to Monitor Funds

The CEC at its session of December 30 approved the rule of allocation and consumption of funds disbursed in accordance with the Decree #799 "on the Allocation of Funds to the Central Election Commission from the Reserve Funds of Georgia” (second stage).

The appointment of Davit Saganelidze and Giorgi Gogniashvili in the Central Election Commission as representatives of presidential candidate Davit Gamkrelidze on his race in the extraordinary elections of January 5, 2008, was accepted as information by the session.
 
The Central Election Commission approved forms of the election documentation, such as special voters’ list (desk version) and unified voters’ lists (desk version).
 
Following organizations with the observer’s status have been registered as international observers in the extraordinary presidential elections of January 5, 2008:
Republican Organization of Crimea "Youth Union – Our Ukraine”;
Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
Embassy of the United States of America;
IFES/GEORGIA;
Georgian Diaspora;
Senate of Italy;
North Atlantic Treaty Association of Lithuania;
Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia;
Parliament of the Republic of Armenia;
Embassy of Norway;
CEC of Azerbaijan;
Embassy of the Republic of Iran;
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus
Financial Monitoring Group was created in order to ensure control on the accounting of funds employed for the elections. The group is composed of civil society representatives, lawyers and licensed auditors. The session, by voting, confirmed three nominated candidates: Roman Kharbedia (Professor, Tbilisi State University), Koki Ionatamishvili (New Generation – New Initiative), Giorgi Chkheidze (young Lawyers Association of Georgia).
 
Tamaz Sharmanashvili, Gia Garsevanishvili, Nikoloz Targamadze, Beka Odisharia and Amiran Devdariani will be appointed representatives of the Central Election Commission.
