Georgia established diplomatic and consular relations with the Republic of Somalia on January 26, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
Georgia’s UN ambassador, Alexander Lomaia, signed a joint communiqué with his counterpart from Somalia, Elmi Ahmed Duale based on the principles of friendly relations, national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-violability of state borders, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
Somalia became the 24th country with which Georgia established diplomatic relations over the past year.
Georgia has signed similar communiqués with DR Congo, Brunei; the Republic of Maldives; Marshall Islands; Fiji; Samoa; Dominican Republic; Commonwealth of Dominica; Guatemala; Paraguay; Peru; Saint Lucia; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Botswana; Central African Republic; Gambia; Cape Verde; Comoros; Equatorial Guinea; Kenya; Liberia; Senegal and Uganda.
